Connected to LAZR Studios (our VR arcade and production studio), the Dojo gives students and indie creators access to professional-grade tools, mentorship, and real-world production experience — all while having fun.

We don’t grade. We produce. Every learner builds projects, gets feedback, and refines their work until it meets professional standards. Whether you’re 14 or 40, LAZR Dojo helps you turn creativity into skill — and skill into opportunity.

🎮 What can I expect when I join?

Each session combines hands-on creation time, mentorship, and VR exploration.
You’ll work in the studio alongside other creators and mentors who have shipped real games and art projects.

Each visit includes:

  • Studio time to work on your project or learn new tools

  • One hour of VR arcade time to create, test, or just have fun

  • Access to mentors who guide you through Unity, Unreal, and visual art skills

  • Optional challenges, game jams, and portfolio-building opportunities

💡 How is LAZR Dojo different from a typical class?

Instead of lectures or grades, we use a Producer Model:
You make something → Get feedback → Improve it → Launch it.

Our students earn badges and ranks by producing tangible work and teaching others. This approach mirrors how creative studios and game companies operate in the real world. You’ll leave with a portfolio, not a report card.

  • Adults (19+) interested in breaking into the game or digital art industries.

  • Teachers, college students, and community mentors who want to support local creators.

No prior experience is required — only curiosity and commitment.

🧰 What kind of tools and tech will I learn?

You’ll use the same tools the pros use:

  • Game Engines: Unreal Engine 5, Unity 3D

  • Art & Design: Adobe Creative Cloud, Wacom Cintiqs, Blender, Procreate

  • VR & Holographic Creation: XR development tools, VR sculpting apps, and motion capture gear

We’ll also explore how AI, storytelling, and sound design fit into the creative pipeline.

Students can:

  • Publish to game stores or asset marketplaces

  • Showcase their work in the Dojo’s exhibitions and tournaments

  • Apply for certifications or internships

  • Even launch their own indie studio within the LAZR ecosystem

🧠 What is the connection between LAZR Dojo and Ctrl V?

LAZR Dojo is powered by LAZR Studios, which operates a Ctrl V VR Arcade.
Students can test their creations in VR and learn how commercial entertainment venues run.
This partnership bridges education, play, and production — turning gaming into a gateway to learning and entrepreneurship.

🌟 Can I back or sponsor the program?

Yes! Through our upcoming Kickstarter and scholarship fund, backers can:

  • Vote on the type of game students will build during the annual Game Jam

  • Act as a Producer, sharing feedback and creative direction

  • Sponsor student seats or new equipment for the studio

Every $10,000 raised adds another Threadripper workstation to the Dojo — boosting creative capacity and opportunity.

🕰️ When are classes or sessions held?

Sessions are typically after school and on weekends.
We also host holiday workshops, VR tournaments, and open studio nights for families and sponsors.

📍Where is LAZR Dojo located?

In Winston-Salem, NC — right next to our Ctrl V VR Arcade and studio. Ask any one at Ctrl V VR arcade and they can direct you to the studio.
Our space features 20+ workstations, a collaborative classroom, and a full-scale VR testing zone and work room.
