Assessments with Purpose

LAZR Dojo uses a competency-based, assessment-driven instructional model that blends project-based learning, mastery progression, and mentorship. Students advance by demonstrating understanding through real work, not by seat time or memorization.

Project-Based Learning (Authentic Tasks)

Students learn by building meaningful projects that reflect real creative and technical work.

Student Capstone Project

Reimagining Minecraft in VR

In this signature LAZR Dojo project, students take inspiration from a familiar world (Minecraft) and learn to design, build, and reimagine their own interactive experience using the fundamentals of Unity or Unreal Engine. The result is a VR-based prototype that reflects each student’s creativity, teamwork, and growing technical skill.

Students will expand the concept by adding original features such as:

  • Custom cityscapes and themed environments

  • Off-road vehicles and interactive traversal

  • Original monsters, quests, and story elements

  • Player goals, rules, and progression systems

This project is taught in a structured way that turns big ideas into achievable steps—so students can succeed whether they’re beginners or advanced.
