GET STARTED YOUR LMS ONBOARDING PATH

You signed up — welcome to the Dojo. This page walks you through everything you need: setting up your LMS, making accounts on the right platforms, and watching the right tutorials so your first day building isn't your last day figuring out how.

Your Onboarding Path

00

Step 1 · LAZR Dojo LMS

01
Step 01 · Start Here
🎓
LAZR Dojo LMS
Your home base. Track progress, find missions, and manage your learning.

First stop: make your LAZR Dojo LMS account. This is your home base — every project, every pathway, every checkpoint lives here.

🔐
When signing up, pick a 4-digit pin you'll remember — you'll use it every visit to log in fast at the front desk.
  • 1
Click Open the LMS below to reach the LAZR Dojo login page.
  • 2
Create your account and pick a 4-digit pin.
  • 3
Log in and explore the LMS dashboard — projects, missions, badges, all live there.
  • 4

Step 2 · Scratch (MIT)

02
Step 02 · Block-Based Coding
🐱
Scratch
Drag-and-drop coding from MIT. The friendliest entry point in the world.

Scratch is where most game designers start their journey. Drag blocks together to build games, animations, and stories — no syntax to memorize, just logic to learn.

  • 1
Make your account at scratch.mit.edu/join using the link below.
  • 2
Open the Getting Started tutorial right inside the Scratch editor.
  • 3
Build your first project — keep it small, ship it, then iterate.
  • 4
Bring your Scratch link to the Dojo and a mentor will help you level up.
// In-Editor Tutorial
Built right into Scratch
Open in Scratch The Getting Started tutorial loads directly inside the Scratch editor — no separate video needed. Click "Start Tutorial" to launch it.

Step 3 · Microsoft MakeCode Arcade

03
Step 03 · Retro Arcade Games
🕹️
MS MakeCode Arcade
Build retro 8-bit games in the browser. Microsoft's free arcade builder.

MakeCode Arcade is where retro game design clicks. Use blocks or JavaScript / Python to build playable arcade games right in the browser — and run them on real handheld devices later.

  • 1
Head to arcade.makecode.com using the link below.
  • 2
Make your account (or sign in with a Microsoft account if you have one).
  • 3
Watch the walkthrough video on the right →
  • 4
Start with a template, modify it, then build something completely your own.

Step 4 · Unreal Engine

04
Step 04 · AAA Engine
🎬
Unreal Engine
Industry-grade engine behind Fortnite, Final Fantasy, and Hollywood VFX.

Unreal is the industry-standard engine behind games like Fortnite and titles across the AAA studio space. Powerful for 3D worlds, cinematic visuals, and pro-level VR — and it's free to learn.

  • 1
Make an Epic Games account via the Unreal Learning hub link below.
  • 2
Download the Epic Games Launcher (you'll install Unreal from there).
  • 3
Watch the intro tutorial on the right → before installing the engine.
  • 4
Install Unreal Engine — heads up, it's a big download. Plan for 30+ minutes.

Step 5 · Unity

05
Step 05 · Indie & VR Powerhouse
🎮
Unity
The engine of choice for indie games, mobile, AR/VR, and more.

Unity is the engine of choice for most indie devs and our Dojo's official Pathway program. C# scripting, world-class VR support, and the same Unity Learn courses we walk through in our cohorts.

  • 1
Make a Unity ID at login.unity.com/en/sign-up using the link below.
  • 2
Download Unity Hub (you'll install Unity Editor through Hub).
  • 3
Watch the intro video on the right → before opening your first project.
  • 4
Then jump into a Unity Pathway at LAZR Dojo and start building.

All Set? Time to Build.

Once your accounts are made and your tutorials are watched, the next step is showing up. Book studio time, jump into a Pathway, or just stop in and ask a mentor where to start.
